The timber frame supply industry has expanded rapidly over recent years, driven by a steady increase in demand for timber frame buildings by self builders and developers large and small. It is the client who chooses the frame specification, so the client retains ownership of their project. MRT customers often choose a 184mm closed panel system, which is insulated and has electrical boxes and conduit factory fitted. However some clients prefer to do the insulating and boarding themselves so an open panel system is also an option.

Either frame can also be manufactured using a 140mm stud.

The main benefits of the closed panel system are that less work is required on site as it is quicker and easier to insulate and board in a dry factory and therefore cheaper in the long run.

The erection time is the same for a closed frame as it is for an open one.

Less money spent on the frame does not always mean savings on the overall build!
